Future Learner Assessors trained

The Moses Kotane Institute’s Maritime Academy trained learner assessors. This programme seeks to increase the capacity of assessors to efficiently assess learners within their fields of expertise. The Research Practitioner for Skills Development, Ms Thembisile Sithole, indicated that “This training will enable trainee assessors to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out assessments according to the QCTO and SAQA requirements. Upon successful completion of the training and the assessment process of the candidates’ Portfolio of Evidence, the candidates can become registered assessors with the different QAP’s (Quality Assurance Partners formerly known as the SETA’s) within their scope of expertise. The trainees will receive the certificates from us and Statement of Results (SOR) from the ETDP-SETA. This programme contributes to Quality Assurance of our Education, Training and Development and economic growth. ”

The Acting Chief Executive Officer, Ms Thandeka Ellenson, is pleased with the direction of this programme, and indicated that MKI has a mandate to coordinate training activities in the Maritime sector as one of the strategic sectors, to contribute towards economic growth. She further invited public and private companies to collaborate with MKI on skills development activities.
