The Moses Kotane Institute (MKI) supported the Ethekwini Municipality outreach programme that was aimed for learners, particularly those who are from previously disadvantaged schools within the Municipal area. The Municipality’s Support Services Unit visited Daluxolo Primary school, an impoverished school in the heart of KwaMashu Township in a quest to identify; groom and guide grade 7 learners to choose their desired career choices/paths.
Representing the Deputy City Manager: Human Settlements & Infrastructure, Mr Philemon Mashoko, Mrs Veena Naidoo- Support Services coordinator thanked the organising committee (Support Services Unit) on a sterling job and a warm welcome from Daluxolo primary school. Mrs Naidoo thanks their sponsoring partners for ensuring the success of the project: and the generous sponsorships from Moses Kotane Institute and Casio.
The purpose of the programme was to assist learners with their desired professions – They were granted the opportunity to dress up and present their findings in front of panel of judges who critically analyzed and assessed the student’s presentations.
2 categories were formed during the programme: best dressed and poster – 3 winners from each category was selected. Students were presented with balanced boards sponsored by Moses Kotane Institute, CASIO calculators, pens and rulers.
The goal for the Support Services Unit is to continue partnering with MKI in nurturing these young students, informing and educating them on the various professions available.
