MKI celebrates Academic Excellence

On the evening of the 13 March 2018, the Moses Kotane Institute and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) stakeholders gathered at the Durban Inkosi Albert International Convention Centre (ICC), as part of the Umyezane Awards to applaud, appreciate and recognise the achievements of 14 MKI funded learners and students who graduated with top marks in the 2017 academic year.
EDTEA’s Member of Executive Council (MEC), Mr Sihle Zikalala and the Moses Kotane Institute Chairperson of Board, Dr Sakhile Ngcobo formally acknowledged the following 14 students for their academic excellence for the 2017 academic year:
- Kubheka Sboniso - National Diploma in Mining from the University of Johannesburg with 16 distinctions over the course of studies;
- Zulu Sakhile - National Diploma in Information Technology with 15 Distinctions over the course of studies;
- Mthembu Sinenhlanhla - Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Zoology with 13 distinctions over the course of studies, and;
- Siwela Ramington - National Diploma in Information Technology with 12 distinctions over the course of studies.
Ten matriculants funded by MKI from Ohlange High School were also recognised. This included 2 learners: Slindile Dlamini and Londiwe Madondo who each achieved six (6) impressive distinctions and an overall aggregate higher than 80%. Eight other learners including: Busisiwe Mngadi, Sibonelo Voyi, Sthandiwe Msomi, Nosipho Dimba, Snothando Nxumalo, Ndumiso Masango, Neliswa Makhoba and Nhlanhla Gcwensa were also recognized for achieving an overall aggregate between 70-80%.
Learners and students were presented with certificates of achievement, laptops and tablets.
